TIME FRAME

1.To  describe any and all concepts related
to Basic and Applied Science and Technology
in cardiac devices.

Basic Science and technology will be discussed to
include:  Basic energy calculations, charge,
coated-wire technology, conductor construction,
ICD battery depletion, action potentials, appropriate pacemaker programming, unipolar and bipolar
electrical signals, anodal stimulation, strength
duration curves.

120 minutes dedicated from:
8:00-10:00 a.m. on Day 1

2.To discuss the medical application of
Pacemakers, ICDs, and CRT devices.

This will include the understanding of the current
Indications for device implant, as well as appropriate
device selection, based on patient needs.
Pharmacology and the effects of common medications
on the cardiac action  potential will also be discussed.

120 minutes dedicated from:
10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on
Day 1

3.To discuss any and all concepts around
Clinical pacing.

Clinical pacing will be discussed to include:
Atrial and ventricular capture, rate smoothing,
crosstalk inhibition, ECG interpretation, atrial overdrive,
lead insulation breaches, EMI inhibition, PMT,
follow-up complications, battery depletion, rate
responsive pacing, mode-switching, atrial and
ventricular sensing issues.

180 minutes dedicated from:
1:00-4:00 p.m. on Day 1

4. To discuss any and all concepts around
Clinical ICD.

Clinical ICD will be discussed to include:  DFT testing
at implant,  the management of ICD complications,
the follow-up of single and dual chamber ICDs, the
steps to troubleshooting an ICD episode, indications
for ICD implant.

120 minutes dedicated from:
8:00-10:00 a.m. on Day 2

5.To discuss any and all concepts related to
Radiography in implanted device cases.

Radiography and it’s use will be discussed to include:
AP and lateral views, over-penetrated films, pulse
generator location, pulse generator model and
polarity, visualization of the connector block, lead
polarity and fixation mechanism, lead integrity, and
proper lead positioning (Endocardial, Epicardial,
Coronary Sinus, Extra Cardiac, etc.)

120 minutes dedicated from:
10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on
Day 2

6.To discuss Heart Failure and CRT device
programming

Heart Failure and CRT will be discussed to include:
Tied output devices (recognition of various losses of
capture), coronary venous anatomy, AV optimization,
V-V optimization, Heart Failure classes and stages,
commonly used medications to treat HF, anodal
capture, commonly used HF diagnostics from
implanted devices.
